• Peaceful end to Jax standoff (capitolcitynow.com) — A ten-hour police standoff in Jacksonville early Friday forced the closure of the local middle school, but ended with no reported injuries. Police say 37-year-old Thomas Loughary surrendered after negotiations, and he now faces multiple felony weapon and domestic battery charges. The domestic battery victim was treated at a hospital and released.

• 'America 250' murals planned for Peoria, other cities (chronicleillinois.com) — Jacksonville Main Street is among the Illinois groups receiving state funding for new ā€˜America 250’ public art projects, tied to the nation’s 250th birthday. While Peoria will get a large West Main Street mural, Jacksonville’s grant-backed project will also highlight local identity and history. Details and unveiling updates will be shared through the state arts website.
