$1 Million Bail In Joliet Police Arrest

Three days after his arrest, Ryan McBee remains housed in the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

JOLIET, IL - It's rare for Will County's judges to set bail in the seven figures for a criminal defendant, but in the recent case involving Ryan McBee, one of Will County's newest judges determined that a $1 million bail was necessary. Judge Derek Ewanic, a former long-time assistant Will County State's Attorney, set the $1 million bail for the 42-year-old man with a Plainfield mailing address. McBee was arrested Sunday by officers at the Joliet Police Department.

According to his Will County criminal complaint, McBee is being charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 3 felony, and domestic battery, a Class 4 felony. Will County Courthouse files state that McBee "knowingly possessed on or about his person ... a firearm, a .22 Marlin rifle," even though McBee "has been previously convicted of a felony, aggravated battery, in the Circuit Court of LaSalle County" back in 1998.

McBee's second felony offense in Will County states that he is a convicted domestic abuser, having been convicted out of LaSalle County in 2006 of the crime of domestic abuse.

On May 20, McBee "poured a beer on (his wife)," the complaint states.

Prosecutors put McBee on notice they intend to seek an "enhanced Class 4 sentence based on the Defendant's prior conviction of domestic battery in LaSalle County," court records show.

In the event that McBee makes bail, he is prohibited from staying at his house in the 1900 block of Winger Drive in the Plainfield area. Moreover, McBee must not consume any alcoholic beverages. He must stay away from his wife, and he must further obtain a SCRAM device for his automobile, the judge informed him.

As of Wednesday night, McBee was still incarcerated at the Will County jail. He needs to come up with $100,000 cash, which is 10 percent of his bail, to get himself out of custody.

In December 2016, McBee was also arrested by Will County's Sheriff Police in Wilmington on charges of drunken driving, failing to reduce his speed to avoid a collision and improper lane use.
