The Will County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation.

JOLIET, IL - Two dead bodies were found late Tuesday night in Joliet Township and both deaths are considered suspicious, the Will County Sheriff's Department announced. Shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday, the county issued a statement. A call came into the East Joliet Fire Department around 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. Near Rowell Avenue and Sugar Creek Drive, a vehicle was fully engulfed. After the fire was doused, sheriff's deputies discovered two dead bodies inside. "Both bodies were severely unrecognizable but have been identified as two (men)," the sheriff's statement reads.

The bodies were turned over to the Will County Coroner's Office. An autopsy will be performed later today.

"We have identified the vehicle but we are not releasing that information right now," Sheriff's Spokewoman Kathy Hoffmeyer told Joliet Patch around 10:30 a.m.
