Burned Body Was Joliet Resident, Coroner Says
This Joliet man has been positively identified as a murder victim, the Will County Coroner's Office announced.

JOLIET, IL - The Will County Coroner's Office is certain that the two burning bodies discovered early Wednesday morning inside a car that was purposefully set on fire were both homicide victims. Late Wednesday afternoon, a coroner official announced that one of the victims has been positively identified as Xavier Sallie, 19, of Joliet. The second homicide victim remains unidentified at this point, authorities said.
One thing is clear: both men were killed before the vehicle was ignited. Both men died from gunshot wounds, the authorities revealed. Will County Sheriff's Police is in charge of the double murder investigation.
The bodies were found around 1:20 a.m. inside the car which was left in Joliet Township. The East Joliet Fire Department put out the car fire on Rowell Avenue near Sugar Creek Drive around 10 p.m.

Sallie, Will County Jail logs show, spent considerable time in the Will County detention facility in 2017 when he was 18 years old. The Joliet Police Department put him in jail on three felony gun charges and he was incarcerated from January through April 2017. This March, the Will County Sheriff's Department put Sallie in jail on charges of manufacturing marijuana and driving/never issued a license. He spent a week in the county lockup before being released on March 21.
