2 Suspected Joliet Heroin, Cocaine Dealers Arrested: State Police

At 4:40 a.m. police conducted multiple search warrants in Joliet and Crest Hill as a part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

JOLIET, IL — Illinois State Police announced on Friday that two members of the Barfield family, 25-year-old Levelle Barfield Jr. and 28-year-old Lee Barfield Jr., were among four people arrested during a drug raid performed at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The Barfields are accused of dealing heroin, fentanyl and cocaine in the Joliet area.

The Will County Cooperative Police Assistance Team arrested the two Barfields on multiple charges of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance: heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine, as well as unlawful use of a weapon.

Also, 19-year-old Dayqhaun D. Smith of Joliet and Christian Rogers, 18, of Joliet, were arrested on misdemeanor weapons charges.

The search warrants in Joliet and Crest Hill resulted in the seizure of one loaded handgun, one loaded rifle, cash, and a stolen vehicle, Illinois State Police said.

Levelle Barfield and Lee Barfield were taken to the Will County Jail, while Smith and Rogers were charged with misdemeanor weapons violations and released with an I-Bond.

Levelle Barfield Jr.'s bail was set at $250,0000 while Lee Barfield Jr.'s bail was put at $75,000.

Friday's Illinois State Police news releaase announced: "We encourage the public to call WCPAT at 815-726-6377 to report non-emergency information about drug dealing and gang problems. Our partnership with the public is an important part of improving the quality of life for citizens and children in our communities, and we appreciate the public’s assistance.

WCPAT said it is comprised of personnel from the Illinois State Police, Joliet Police Department, Plainfield Police Department, Romeoville Police Department, and Crest Hill Police Department.
