2 Finalists For Will County Associate Judge

A whopping 49 lawyers from Will County had applied for the bench opening.

JOLIET, IL - The field of 49 Will County lawyers who were vying for the vacancy created by Will County Associate Judge Robert Brumund's upcoming retirement has been narrowed to two finalists. The Office of Will County Chief Judge Richard Schoenstedt informed Joliet Patch this week that the two people in contention for associate judge are Joliet lawyer Michael R. Lucas and Assistant Will County State's Attorney Jeffrey Tuminello.

In the coming days, Will County's 16 circuit judges will receive ballots from the Illinois Supreme Court to mark their desired choice. Ballots could be mailed out next week. From there, the ballots will be tabulated and the winner will be chosen by early February at the latest, a court official told Patch.

Lucas is a member of the Joliet law firm of Lucas, Thompson & Wise LLC and his law office is on North Hammes Avenue. Lucas has more than 30 years of legal experience around the Joliet area.

"Michael’s practice areas include Estate Planning, Estate Litigation, General Civil Litigation, Real Estate, Personal Injury, Mechanic’s Liens, Traffic, and Driver’s License Reinstatement," his bio notes.

Lucas has also been active in multiple Plainfield civic organizations.

"Michael was raised in the Plainfield-Joliet area; graduated from Plainfield High School and also attended Joliet Junior College," his law firm profile points out.

As for Jeffrey Tuminello, he has been a veteran Assistant Will County State's Attorney working for James Glasgow. A 2007 press release issued by the State's Attorney's Office praised Tuminello for his role in securing a long prison sentence for Manuel Ramirez, a California truck driver who was detained at a truck stop in Plainfield with 7,000 grams of cocaine.
