JOLIET, IL — Sunday night's gunfire that left four people injured and a 32-year-old former Joliet man dead involved at least two shooters, Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said.
Clark said there may have been as many as 200 people loitering around the parking lot for Forza Table & Tap when the shootings happened around 11:45 p.m.
He praised the efforts of the Crest Hill police officers, who were already at the parking lot trying to enforce the city's loitering ordinance when the shootings began. He said the officers focused on the people who were injured, and tried to save the life of gunshot victim Terrell Fanniel, the 32-year-old current Bolingbrook resident who later died at St. Joe's hospital.

Clark said there were a handful of officers at the scene when the shooting occurred. "I'm very proud of the officers. They did a very good job."
He encouraged people to continue to contact Crest Hill police or the Will County Crimestoppers with any leads and tips regarding the shooting. Clark declined to say whether the person who killed Fanniel ran from the scene, drove away or got a ride from somebody.
So far, Crest Hill police have not posted any description of a getaway vehicle.
"They do have some information they are wanting to keep anonymous, keep close to the vest," Clark said. "They have made some developments."
As for the fact that two people were shooting, Crest Hill police are still investigating whether Fanniel may have been one of the gunmen, Clark told Patch when asked if Fanniel was one of the shooters.
