3 Compete to Fill Judge Policandriotes' Upcoming Departure

The Will County judge decided to retire from the bench effective next August.

JOLIET, IL - The March 20 political primary will mean important decisions for thousands of voters across Will County who are interested in the day to day activities at their Will County Courthouse. Next year, voters will be electing two new Will County Circuit Court judges. One vacancy was created by this year's retirement of Judge Dan Rozak. The second vacancy came as somewhat of a surprise to some in the legal community. Veteran Will County Circuit Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes submitted paperwork with the Illinois Supreme Court this Fall, announcing her intentions to retire from the bench effective next August.

A total of three lawyers filed their candidacy papers to have their names on the March 20 primary ballot. Two will compete in the Republican primary while the one Democrat will run unopposed in the primary and go up against the Republican winner when it comes time for the November 6 general election.

Running unopposed in the Democratic primary is attorney Vincent F. Cornelius of Brooksedge Avenue in Naperville. Competing head to head in the Republican primary will be Victoria McKay Kennison of Nicholson Street in Joliet and Bob Bodach of Westshore Drive in Shorewood.
