Judge Dan Rozak's Retirement Means 4 Candidates In Primary
Two are Joliet attorneys. The others are attorneys from Shorewood and Frankfort.

JOLIET, IL - Four members of the Will County legal community will be competing for votes in the March 20 primary to fill the Will County Circuit Court vacancy created last year's retirement of long-time jurist, Daniel Rozak. Three lawyers will square off against each other in the Democratic primary while one is running unopposed in the Republican primary. The Democratic challengers are attorney Moira Dunn, of Fieldstone Drive in Shorewood, David Garcia of Woodworth Avenue in Joliet and Daniel O'Connell of Douglas Street in Joliet. Garcia is currently an associate judge for Will County.
The Republican candidate is Ben Braun, who lives on Yankee Ridge Drive in Frankfort. Braun is also an associate judge for Will County.
Rozak retired from the bench back on January 16 after serving in elected office since 2000. He had previously been an associate judge from 1995 until 2000.

The winner of the three-person Democratic primary is expected to go up against Braun in the November 6, 2018 general election.
The Rozak vacancy is one of two Will County Circuit Court judicial races that will be on the ballot for Will County voters to decide in 2018. Additionally, there is also an appointment of an associate Will County judge that will take place in the coming weeks to fill the vacancy of the soon-to-be retiring Judge Robert Brumund.
