7 Felonies, $1 Million Bail For Demetrious Montrell Houston
Prosecutors allege the crimes occurred on Western Avenue.

JOLIET, IL - In two weeks, Demetrious Montrell Houston will turn 36 years old, but there's a good chance he will be spending his birthday behind the steel bars at the Will County Adult Detention Facility. Houston is being detained on a $1 million bail set last week by Will County Judge Art Smigielski. Why the steep bail? The State's Attorney's Office has charged the Joliet resident with seven felony crimes: four counts of residential burglary, one count of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of indecent solicitation of a child.
The criminal complaint states that the crimes occurred on March 8 in an apartment on Joliet's Western Avenue. The Joliet Police Department investigated the case.
One of the charges indicates that Houston "in the presence of a child with intent or knowledge that a child under the age of 13 years ... would view his acts, exposed his penis for the purpose of sexual arousal or gratification of the defendant."

Another of the criminal charges brought against Houston states that he, "remained in the dwelling of another ... with the intent to commit ... a felony ... indecent solicitation of a child."
Houston is also accused of soliciting a child, age 13, "to perform an act of sexual penetration or sexual conduct."

Will County jail logs listed Houston as living in Lockport. However, the Will County Courthouse files are usually more reliable. Those records listed Houston's address as being in the 400 block of Blackhawk Street on Joliet's far east side.
As it stands, Houston needs $100,000 cash, which is 10 percent of his bail, to get out of jail while his criminal case is pending. That appears unlikely given that the judge gave him court-appointed counsel as legal representation.
