80 MPH Near Horseshoe Drive, Gun Found In Couple's Vehicle: JPD

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet couple was arrested late Saturday night after they were driving 80 mph near the 800 block of Horseshoe Drive, police announced. Inside the car, Joliet police seized a gun, authorities indicated.

After the traffic stop, Rickesha Holman-Williams, 34, was booked into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Her driver, Christopher Williams, 34, was released on an I-bond on charges of speeding more than 35 mph over the speed limit, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, improper lane use and failing to signal.

Joliet police said they made the traffic stop around 11:30 p.m. after the Williams' vehicle was traveling approximately 80 miles per hour and failing to signal when required.

"Officers observed an open bottle of alcohol in the vehicle," police spokesman Dwayne English said. He said that Williams was placed into custody without incident and when the vehicle was searched, police recovered a 5.7X28 mm handgun between the center console and passenger seat.

"Holman-Williams indicated ownership of the weapon, and she was placed into custody without incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene," English stated.

Rickesha Holman-Williams has been released from the Will County Jail after posting 10 percent of her $10,000 bail.
