Aggravated Resisting Arrest For Joliet Man In Marycrest Area: Police

Joliet police say officers told Fredrick Terry, age 49, to remove his hands from the woman's vehicle multiple times, but he refused.

JOLIET, IL —A 49-year-old Joliet man was arrested early Sunday morning after Joliet police say they had to take Fredrick Terry to the ground after he refused to stay away from a vehicle in the Marycrest subdivision area. Down at the police station, Fredrick Terry was given his notice to appear on charges of aggravated resisting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer.

Sunday's incident happened while most citizens of Joliet were asleep, at 4:13 a.m.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Terry's capture:

  • Officers responded to Terry's house in the 300 block of St. Jude Avenue for a domestic disturbance.
  • Terry was arguing with a woman inside the home and as Joliet police tried to calm everybody down, Terry grew upset and repeatedly tried to intervene.
  • As the victim was trying to leave the area in her own vehicle, Terry used his vehicle to block her vehicle in the driveway while Joliet police were still at the scene.
  • Then, Terry reached into her window and tried to unlock her car door.
  • Officers commanded Terry to remove his hand from the vehicle multiple times, to which he ignored. Terry began to pull away from the officers and refused access to his arms.
  • Terry was taken to the ground, and officers were eventually able to place him into custody, according to English.
