All Illinois Schools Closed for the Remainder of the School Year
Joliet District 86 Students Will Not Return to School in May

Illinois Governor Pritzker announced that all Illinois schools will remain closed for the duration of the 2019-2020 school year. All Joliet Public Schools District 86 events, including graduation ceremonies, are also cancelled. Below is a portion of a letter from Superintendent Dr. Theresa Rouse that was emailed out to all Joliet District 86 parents/guardians on April 17, 2020.
Thank you to our families for your support, tireless efforts, and understanding as we work through this new way of learning. Your patience is truly appreciated. We know this is a very challenging time and hope you have developed routines that work for your family. If you need anything, we are here to support you.
Also, thank you to our staff for everything you have done to provide some type of normalcy as we navigate through this crisis. From developing E-Learning packets, providing meals to our students, disinfecting our schools, paying bills, working on student registration, answering parent questions, to preparing and distributing Chromebooks, I am proud of all District 86 employees for your support during these challenging times. I truly miss seeing the faces of
our students, parents, and staff.

Progress reports will not be sent home for this trimester. Please continue to check in with your children’s teachers each week. All teachers have daily office hours and should be in communication with you. We will continue to communicate with you as we move through the weeks ahead. Updated information about grades, packet drop offs, cleaning out lockers/desks, and possible virtual events will be sent shortly.
My heart is full of gratitude for our entire school community. We will get through this by working together and remaining hopeful. Please continue to use our Let’s Talk communication tool on the website (www.joliet86.org) to ask questions or leave comments.
