Amazon Worker In Joliet Pulls Loaded Gun On Coworkers: Joliet Police
Joliet police say they responded to the Amazon warehouse, 250 Emerald Drive, for an Amazon employee found in possession of a handgun.

JOLIET, IL — After spending the past two nights sleeping in his cell at Will County's Jail, 18-year-old Joliet Amazon warehouse worker Demonte Echols regained his freedom Friday afternoon after being arrested for a gun incident at work on Wednesday evening, according to Joliet police.
A Cook County resident from Calumet Avenue in Dolton, Echols was taken away from work in handcuffs and Joliet police charged him with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault, authorities noted.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Wednesday night's arrest at the east-side Amazon facility.

- At 6:35 p.m, officers responded to the Amazon warehouse at 250 Emerald Drive for an Amazon employee in possession of a handgun.
- Officers learned that while two male Amazon employees were on a break outside by the front doors, an argument took place between them and Echols, a fellow Amazon employee.
- During the argument, Echols retrieved a handgun from a bag he was carrying and threatened the victims while holding the handgun by his side.
- Amazon security was notified of the incident, who then confronted Echols and the handgun was located in his bag. Officers retrieved a loaded handgun from Echols’ bag, and he was placed into custody without incident.
