JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department arrested a 39-year-old resident on Sunday evening in connection with a stolen vehicle case on the city's west side.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Clara Avenue for a stolen motor vehicle. The officers found out that a man later identified as Daniel Madlock may have stolen the
resident’s Hyundai Accent that was locked and parked in the driveway after possibly stealing the keys from the owner’s coat, English noted.

Officers were unable to locate the vehicle at the time; the owner did not give permission to anyone else to take his vehicle.

Officers were called back to the residence on Clara Avenue at 6:40 p.m. that same evening after it was learned that Madlock had driven the vehicle back to the residence and was confronted by the owner. Following questioning, Madlock admitted to taking the vehicle without the owner’s
permission and he was placed into custody without incident. He was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Madlock also held an active Grundy County warrant for failing to appear for past drug charges, English pointed out.

Although Madlock was processed at the Joliet Police Department and released on a notice to appear for the stolen vehicle charge, he was transported to the Will County Adult
Detention Facility for the outstanding warrant.
