Mills Road Shooting Solved By Joliet Police As Woods Gets Arrested On Class X Felony Crimes (patch.com) — Residents on Joliet’s east side can learn more about how police say they solved the May 15 shooting on Mills Road, leading to the arrest of 24-year-old Joliet resident Keenen Woods. Detectives allege he possessed multiple firearms during the incident, tried to hide them, and is now jailed on several serious weapons-related charges and obstruction of justice.    

2. Joliet Man Keeps Huffing Aerosol Cans He's Stealing from West Jefferson Street Stores: Police (patch.com) — Joliet readers are learning how police say they arrested and then quickly re-arrested 37-year-old Shane Valentine, who lists a Joliet treatment facility as his address, after repeated incidents along West Jefferson Street. Officers report aerosol thefts, alleged huffing, and multiple charges including retail theft, trespass, and violating pretrial release, with ambulance and hospital visits also involved.    

3. Joliet House Sold By Man Who Does Not Even Own It: Lawsuit (patch.com) — Residents connected to a house on East Washington Street in Joliet are suing a man and his company, alleging he took tens of thousands of dollars for a home he did not actually own. The Will County lawsuit, now moving forward after the defendant was finally served in Joliet, seeks $100,000 plus legal costs over alleged fraud and breach of contract involving the Joliet property.    

4. Scott Slocum's New Book, 'The Great American Road Trip Route 66 Adventures:' Here's How To Get Your Copy (patch.com) — Joliet radio host Scott Slocum is celebrating Route 66’s centennial with a new book, co-written with local friend Lisa Bakewell, that blends travel stories and practical tips for planning your own road trip. He’ll discuss the book and sign copies at the Joliet Area Historical Museum on June 4, and the guide is available both there and online for Route 66 enthusiasts.    

5. Narcan Distribution Box Added At New Lenox Village Hall, 10 More Placed Around Will County (patch.com) — Joliet residents now have several new places to quickly grab free Naloxone, including multiple University of St. Francis campuses and key Will County offices in town. Will County has expanded its red distribution boxes to 29 locations overall, aiming to cut opioid overdose deaths further and encouraging residents to keep Naloxone in homes and first-aid kits.
