• 8th Floor Shooter On Western Avenue Captured By Joliet Police, This Is What Led To His Arrest: Cops (patch.com) — Joliet residents are learning more about a serious shooting at an apartment building on Western Avenue, where a 53-year-old man was critically injured after being shot on the eighth floor. Police say they arrested 35-year-old Antonio Sims of Joliet at the scene, later recovering a stolen handgun and suspected cocaine from his unit, and prosecutors have approved multiple felony charges as the investigation continues.
• Full Ramp Closures at 80/Chicago St. Begin Sept. 8 (fwrnews.com) — Drivers in Joliet should prepare for full ramp closures at the I-80 and Chicago Street interchange starting Tuesday, Sept. 8, with detours in place and reopening not expected until 2028. • Trump administration reverses Great Lakes project halt after Whitmer call (wheninyourstate.com) — A major invasive carp barrier project near Joliet is back on track after Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer personally urged President Trump to lift a federal stop-work order. The Brandon Road Interbasin Project along the Des Plaines River is designed to protect Lake Michigan and Illinois waterways, raising environmental and political stakes for communities near Joliet.
