The move highlights how litigation costs and the city's self-insurance structure affect local finances, even as many Joliet streets and sidewalks remain in disrepair.
   

3. Route 59 Near CarMax Getting New Gas Station, Car Wash And Restaurant If Joliet City Council Approves This (patch.com) — Joliet officials are considering a proposal for a new gas station, car wash, and drive-thru restaurant at Route 59 and Theodore Street, next to the CarMax dealership. Deputy City Manager Nolan Ming is recommending a special use permit so the 2.9-acre site can be developed, with the gas station operating 24 hours and the car wash running daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
   

4. Savvy Sliders Restaurant Coming To Joliet If City Council Approves This Location For Drive-Thru Permit (patch.com) — Joliet residents could soon see the state's first Savvy Sliders if the City Council approves a drive-thru permit for a new restaurant near Olive Garden and Costco by I-55 and Route 30. The plan reuses a previously approved Starbucks drive-thru layout and would anchor a new multi-tenant building at 16301 Boulevard Place.
   

5. Joliet West Culinary Students Serve Food At Joliet Fire Department's First Survivors Recognition Ceremony (patch.com) — Four Joliet West High School culinary students recently helped serve about 100 guests at the Joliet Fire Department's first Survivors Recognition Ceremony at Bicentennial Park. The teens plated and served food while gaining real-world customer service experience and earning community service hours, showcasing how Joliet Township High School's culinary program connects classroom learning with service in the local community.
