1. 2 Felony Charges For Joliet Police Lt. Jeremy Harrison As He Appeals His Termination (patch.com) β Joliet readers are learning that former police Lt. Jeremy Harrison now faces two felony charges in Will County after an Illinois State Police investigation into alleged misuse of the city's Flock license plate reader system. The longtime Joliet officer was previously fired and is appealing his termination before the city's police and fire board, while his attorney maintains he did not break department rules.

Joliet Mass Murderer's Co-Defendant From Shorewood Stands Trial This Week At Courthouse (patch.com) β Joliet readers are watching closely as Jon Hansen of Shorewood, a friend of deceased mass killer Romeo Nance, finally goes on trial at the Will County Courthouse for first-degree murder tied to the 2024 Joliet killing spree. Prosecutors say Hansen admitted riding with Nance, handling a gun later tossed in a river near Joliet, while his defense insists he was merely present in the car and not a participant in the mass murders.

Joliet Murder Defendant Celebrates 18th Birthday With Transfer To Will County Jail (patch.com) β Joliet residents are learning that murder defendant Jaevion Smith has been moved from juvenile detention to the Will County Jail now that he has turned 18. Smith is charged as an adult in the fatal May stabbing of 17-year-old Joliet Central student Javion Bailey, who was attacked at Riverwalk Homes and later died at St. Joseph Medical Center.

Local Event: Free Halloween Fun for Kids at Joliet Area Historical Museum Oct. 24 (patch.com) β Families in Joliet can sign up now for a free STEAM Spooktacular Halloween party at the Joliet Area Historical Museum on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids in grades Kβ6 will solve spooky science mysteries, enjoy hands-on experiments, and dance to live music from Plainfield School of Rock, with costumes encouraged and no admission cost.

Friends Of The Joliet Public Library To Host Fall Book Sale (wjol.com) β Joliet readers can stock up on cheap books and media at the Friends of the Joliet Public Library fall book sale, running Oct. 23β25 at the Black Road Branch. With prices as low as 50 cents and a $4 bag sale Sunday, every purchase helps fund library collections, programs, and free books for community events.
