Shirley Hardie Obituary

Shirley Mae Hardie, age 70, of Joliet, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.

Born April 5, 1942 in Joliet to the late Mabel (nee Hall) and Elijah Leadingham, she was a lifetime Joliet resident. Attended Eliza Kelly, Washington and Joliet Township Central.

Beloved mother of sons, Gary (Jackie) Hardie of Joliet and James Wendell (Retha) Hardie of Harriman, TN; grandmother of Christopher Hardie, Kayla Purdy; Samantha (Heath) Snow, Darryl Farmer, Olivia Hardie, Dwight Farmer and Charles Eli Hardie; great-grandmother of Elijah Matthew Purdy, Cade Snow and another due late fall; dear sister of Marlene (Roy) Norris; fond niece of Goldie (Jessie) Fugett; many nieces, nephews and dear friends also survive.

Preceded in death by her husband, Charles (2002); her parents; two brothers, Curtis and Everette Leadingham; and one sister, Doris Minor.

Shirley was a great hostess who loved cooking, but she most enjoyed being around her family and friends.

Funeral Services for Shirley Mae Hardie will be Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place at Crab Orchard Cemetery in Oakdale, TN on Saturday, June 16, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 5:00 p.m. until time of services at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.
