JOLIET, IL -On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Joliet City Council will vote whether to approve a liquor license transfer for one of the city's most famous neighborhood taverns. The council must decide whether to grant the Class A liquor license transfer from long-time owner Andy Wrobel to Patrick Walsh. Andy & Sophie's tavern is located at 931 N. Hickory St.

"Mr. Walsh intends to do some interior improvements and would like to open in August," the city documents explain. "Mr. Walsh will hire one bar manager and between four and five part-time employees. No one under the age of 21 will be hired."

The city of Joliet's liquor commission has recommended that the liquor license transfer be approved. One citizen of Joliet, John Sheridan, showed up at the liquor commission meeting and "indicated that his only concern was the 3 a.m. close and (he) believes the extra hour permit should not be transferred," city documents pointed out.
