Another Far West Side Joliet House Goes Up In Flames
Joliet Fire Department crews from Station 6,7,8, 9 and 10 responded to Sunday evening's fire.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Fire Department called in crews from stations 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 to put out a two-story house fire that happened around dinner time Sunday. Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Batusich said the following events surrounded the fire:
- At 5:45 p.m. the fire department learned of a garage fire in the 6800 block of Cornwall Drive on the City’s far west side. First arriving crews arrived in three minutes and reported heavy fire coming from the front of the structure.
- Company 10 knocked down the fire in the garage with a blitz line. Crew from Engine 9 and 10 then entered the structure to find fire on the first floor.
- The fire was extinguished and firefighters kept the fire from extending to other parts of the house. The roof was vented due to poor visibility inside the house and that aided the attack companies in extinguishing the fire.
- The family escaped the structure on their own, and there were no injuries.
- Crews were on the scene for 90 minutes. The structure suffered major fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
