SHOREWOOD, IL — Another school administrator at Troy-Shorewood Elementary has decided to leave and find work outside the school district. On Monday, Assistant Principal Carol Zurales sent out an email to parents informing them she won't be returning to Troy 30-C for the 2019-2020 school year.

During the past month "I have been in the interview process for a principal position in Peotone, which is closer to my home. I am excited to announce that I was board approved Thursday night as the new principal of Peotone Elementary School," her statement to parents of Troy-Shorewood children explained.

Zurales has served as assistant principal for Troy-Shorewood the past three years. Her departure comes a week after Principal Colleen Connolly issued a statement notifying parents that she was no longer the principal at the district's oldest elementary building.

Unlike Zurales, Connolly did not finish the school year. Connolly had not been in the building during the final few weeks of classes.

Last week, Troy Community School District Superintendent Todd Koehl did not return messages seeking his comment surrounding Connolly's departure.
