Anthony's Restaurant & Pub Suspending Business Amid Coronavirus

Anthony's said it will be closed for the remainder of the Illinois coronavirus shutdown governing all bars and sit-down restaurants.

JOLIET, IL — In recent weeks, Anthony's Restaurant & Pub near the Louis Joliet Mall tried to stay open for carryout food orders, but that's about to end. Anthony's announced on Facebook that its last day of business will be Sunday, April 26.

On a positive note, Anthony's said it plans to reopen once Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker lifts the restrictions that were put in place for all bars and sit-down restaurants. The state's shutdown of bars and sit-down restaurants has been in effect since March 16. Since last month, Anthony's tried staying open by offering curbside pickup for food orders.

"We thank you for all your support during these last few weeks, but we cannot sustain the financial burden of staying open," Anthony's informed its Facebook followers. "We are not breaking up forever ... Again, WE WILL RE-OPEN as soon as our local government officials permit us and we will re-hire all of our 50-plus employees."
