Area Firefighters Tackle Brush Fire Along Mound Road
Fire departments from Joliet and Troy worked Wednesday afternoon to contain the blaze.

What started out as an intentional burning Wednesday afternoon in unincorporated Joliet turned into a brush fire, according to a Herald-News report.
Fire departments from around the area, including Joliet and Troy, responded to the out of control blaze at about 1:50 p.m., in the 23300 block of West Mound Road, the report stated. Fire crews were able to contain part of the fire that was close to residential buildings by about 3:15 p.m., the report added.

As of Wednesday afternoon, firefighters were still trying to extinguish the fire on the west side of the area, the report stated.
