Attack On Collins Street Puts Victim In St. Joe's Hospital: Joliet PD
Joliet police said they saw Aldo Vega, age 33, punch the victim in the face multiple times while the victim was still on the ground.

JOLIET, IL — A 33-year-old Joliet man, Aldo Vega, is back in the Will County Jail for the second time in 13 months after Joliet police say they saw him beating up on a defenseless man while the victim lay on the ground in the 700 block of Collins Street.
Tuesday's night attack happened around 10:10 p.m. Vega, who comes from Elwood Street, is now the county jail facing charges of aggravated battery, resisting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct.
One of Joliet's officers patrolling Collins Street saw the attack happening and went to the scene to stop it.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English:
- Vega was standing over another man laying face up on the ground and the officer saw Vega punch the victim in the face multiple times while the victim was still on the ground.
- When the officer intervened, Vega ignored numerous commands to stop fighting. The officer attempted to place Vega into handcuffs, but he initially refused to place his arms behind his back.
- The victim was taken to Ascension St Joseph Hospital by the Joliet Fire Department for treatment of his injuries that he suffered during the attack.
