Beating Victim Taken To St. Joe's ER, Joliet Man Captured: JPD

JOLIET, IL — Two months after the severe beating of a Joliet man left him in the emergency room at Ascension St. Joe's, Joliet police announced the capture of 39-year-old Robert Maack in connection with the attack. A resident of the 700 block of Plainfield Road near Six Corners, Maack is now in the Will County Jail facing four counts of domestic battery.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the violence happened back in September.

According to English, the following events led to this week's arrest and capture of Maack:

At 10:17 a.m., on Sept. 19, Joliet police responded to the emergency room of Ascension St Joseph. Medical Center for a domestic battery victim. The crime took place in an apartment in the 700 block of Plainfield Road.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 17, Maack began to argue with the man in a bedroom of the apartment and began to strike the victim multiple times in the head and body before leaving, police said.

Officials said police also learned of another instance when Maack attacked the man the week prior.

The victim sought treatment at the hospital for injuries sustained in the attacks. Joliet police could not find Maack back in September, but a warrant for his arrest was issued on Sept. 22.

Then, this Wednesday, Joliet police were called to Maack's apartment on Plainfield Road for another disturbance. This time, Maack was at the property and officers took him away in handcuffs, capturing him on the four domestic battery counts.
