Brandon Road Bridge in Joliet Closed for Repairs
Weather permitting, the closure will last until Sept. 30.

JOLIET, IL — A full closure of the Brandon Road bridge over the Des Plaines River in Joliet is currently underway. The closure is for bridge repairs, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
In order to complete the repairs, the bridge will be closed until Friday, Sept. 30, weather permitting.
While Brandon Road is closed, motorists should use the McDonough Street bridge to cross the Des Plaines River. The suggested detour will direct southbound Brandon Road traffic to go north on U.S. 6, east on McDonough Street to cross the river, south on Illinois 53 and west on Laraway Road to meet back with Brandon Road, according to IDOT. Northbound Brandon Road traffic should take the reverse route.
