Buccaneers Bounce back with a win!

Indianapolis- Great day of football and a great day for the Joliet Buccaneers as they traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for a regular season battle with the Indy Assassins Football Team. Buccaneers (1-1 2-1) were treated to a 24-6 win over the Assassins. I am very excited for the players and the team as whole said Head Coach Michael Ingram. We executed in all phases of the game, offensively, defensively, and Special Teams said Ingram. The Bucs started the game out sluggish in the beginning says Ingram. I was not thrilled with the first quarter INT by # 2 Quarterback Jelani Gladney. It is his second interception of the year says Ingram, but he knows he must get better if we are to win. The Buccaneer’s defense has been playing tough all season long and came up big with some huge plays to stop the Assassins threat. #32 Linebacker Tony Grimes had another stellar game with 9 tackles and 5 assists and a 1 and ½ sack, and #0 Gerald Stroman 5 tackles 4 assist and 1 INT and a ½ sack, and # 6 Jalen Simpson 5 tackles 1 sack and 6 assists. Yeah, it was just another day in the office said Simpson. We need to get better, and it starts with me upfront and helping my teammates said Simpson. The Buccaneers Defense allowed the 1 lone score after a botched miscommunication with defensive backs blown coverage. We must play smarter says Simpson. The offense got on the board first thanks in part to # 4 William Jenkins had a bounce back week, motoring the offense down the field with his legs. I’m proud of his running, but again we need to get better, we left a lot of yards out there on the field says Ingram. #2 to #47 TE Tyler Nichols caught is his first reception in the end zone. That did not stop their Nichols had put together another great game for himself with 5 more receptions equally 75 yards. Nichols is a great kid and great weapon on the field for the us says Ingram. He is a playmaker and were excited to have him. The Bucs Special teams came up big in the 3rd Quarter when # 88 Marcus Lewis returns a punt 73 yards for a touchdown establishing a new Buccaneers record and a first for the BGFL. Next week the Buccaneers face their biggest challenge the 2-0 Cavalry football team. It’s going to be a test, but we’re up to the challenge says Ingram.
