Buccaneers New League New Expectations

Joliet- 2026 starts a new year as well as bringing in new expectations for that New Year, as for the Joliet Buccaneers Adult Amateur Football Team. 2026 means a New Year and greater expectations for a team that is primed and loaded for the new league and new season.

This past off-season the Buccaneers Football Team joined a new league for the 2026 season, and their 22nd season of operation. The Buccaneers were part of the BGFL/MCFL/MDFL since 2018 season, the league had re-branded multiple times to attract other teams over the years. The decision to leave that league was not made lightly, said CEO/General Manager Sandra Geib-Ingram. You always want what’s best for your players and the team, and in this case going into the Michigan Football League (MFL) was the best decision for our organization.

The Michigan Football League has been around since 2021, they’ve had a few league Champions, this past year the League Champion (Tri-City Stampede) had play for a national bowl game this January and we’ve had our eyes on that league since this past year said Geib-Ingram. Corey Steele owner of the River City Raiders and Michigan Football League President was excited about the Buccaneers coming over to the league. “My conversations with Team President Michael Ingram were delightful and informative, I learned a lot about his team and his background and what he wants for his team and its players, said Steele. Mike’s ideas are the same ideas and goals that we want the MFL to embody, were not worried about quantity of teams in our league, were worried about the quality of teams that will make up the foundation of our league for years to come, says Steele. The Michigan Football League will have a 8-10 game schedule and the Buccaneers along with the Freeport Lions Football Organization will be a part of the league. We are pleased to have some new faces within our league for 2026 season and make some new rivalry games, says Steele.

Currently the Buccaneers are doing indoor workout sessions and still in the process of bringing new players on to the team as well. “We always are recruiting young men to be a part of our organization, it’s a process that goes on year in and year out, said Team President/Head Coach Michael Ingram. The work always goes on, and neither will it stop, says Ingram.
