Stolen New Car Recovered On Black Road: Joliet Police

Joliet police hauled away 54-year-old Blue Island resident Jacqueline Valdez Sanchez in handcuffs late Thursday morning on Black Road.

JOLIET, IL — A 54-year-old woman from Blue Island is now lodged inside the Will County Jail after Joliet police say she stole a vehicle from a business last August. Thursday's traffic stop happened

Joliet police booked Jacqueline Valdez Sanchez into Will County's Jail around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Around 11:35 a.m., the Blue Island woman was pulled over in the 2700 block of Black Road after a check of the vehicle’s registration indicated the vehicle was stolen in Chicago.

"Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was a service loaner vehicle from Berman Nissan in Chicago," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English notified Patch. "Valdez Sanchez had taken the vehicle that she owned for service at Berman in August of 2021, but failed to return the new Nissan Murano that the dealership had provided as a loaner."

Joliet police spoke with the dealership and the business confirmed that they reported the vehicle stolen after Valdez Sanchez had failed to return the loaner after numerous failed attempts to contact her, police reports show.

Valdez Sanchez was placed into custody without incident and the vehicle was towed.

Bail for Valdez Sanchez was set by a Will County judge at $5,000.
