Carson's At Louis Mall Sued By 2016 Customer

The lawsuit was filed this week at the Will County Courthouse.

JOLIET, IL - Although the Carson's store at the Louis Joliet Mall may be sitting empty these days, a person who visited the store in September 2016 has retained a Chicago law attorney and wants Will County's judicial to award them more than $50,000 in monetary damages. Plaintiff Sultanije Gazafer, who has lived in the Plainfield area, is being represented by Chicago attorney Lauren Buchanan & Associates.

The new lawsuit states that the Bon-Ton Department Stores owned, operated and maintained Carson Pirie Scott, at 3340 Mall Loop Drive in Joliet, and that on Sept. 29, 2016, Gazafer was a store patron.

"Sultanije Gazafer was caused to fall as the result of a wet substance (on) the ground of the store, suffering injury," the plaintiff's lawyer alleges. "On September 29, 2016, the wet substance on the ground of the store was the result of a water leak."

The lawsuit states that Carson's "should have anticipated that persons on the premises would not discover or realize the danger associated with wet substance and/or leak in question, or would otherwise fail to protect themselves against its hazard."
