Chain Reaction Crashes on I-55 Send 3 People to Hospital
Police say the crashes occurred due to people not paying attention.

Road repair work on I-55 Monday caused chain reaction crashes between several vehicles that sent three people to the hospital.
The crashes occurred at around 1 p.m. southbound on I-55 at Arsenal Road when a semi and three cars, two cars, and two semis struck one another in three separate incidents.
“I believe it was because IDOT was doing emergency road repair so it went down to one lane and as usual traffic was backing up and people weren’t paying attention,” Illinois State Police Sergeant Scott Angus said.
