Charles Holmes Jr. Shatters Window With Brick On Broadway: Police
The incident occurred late Wednesday after a night of drinking, Joliet police say.

JOLIET, IL - On Wednesday night, Charles Holmes Jr. was visiting a 61-year-old friend over at a rental house on Broadway. There was drinking involved, according to Joliet police, and tempers flared. Police say that Holmes was asked to leave the residence in the 1300 block of North Broadway Street and that's when he walked outside around 11:30 p.m. and reached to the ground and found a brick. The 37-year-old Holmes threw the brick into one of the windows at the house, shattering the window, Joliet's deputy chief of police Ed Gregory explained.
Officers responded to the scene and found Holmes nearby. "He had been drinking a little bit of alcohol," Gregory remarked. Holmes was put in a squad car and taken downtown, where he was charged with a misdemeanor offense, criminal damage to property. Holmes was released on an I-bond. Holmes resides at 611 East Cass Street, The Daybreak Shelter.
Incidentally, Holmes had just gotten out of the Will County Jail on Tuesday afternoon after spending five days in custody after being arrested by Joliet police during the early morning hours of December 1 in connection with allegations of criminal trespass to land.
