Cocaine Dealer From The Windy City Arrested In Joliet: Police
Joliet police say the officers conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Explorer near Cass Street and Page Street for speeding.

JOLIET, IL — A 29-year-old Chicago resident, Juan Cervantes-Alvarez, has regained his freedom after being arrested by Joliet police over the weekend on charges of possession of controlled substances and possession with intent to deliver.
The incident surrounding the arrest of Cervantes happened Saturday around 6:20 p.m.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events led to his detention:

- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Explorer near Cass Street and Page Street for speeding. Cervantes-Alvarez was a passenger.
- During the traffic stop, a K9 search around the vehicle indicated the presence of narcotics. Officers searched the vehicle and recovered suspected cocaine from the interior of the vehicle. Cervantes-Alvarez was placed into custody without incident.
- Angelica Vargas-Roman, 27, of Chicago was the driver and was cited for speeding. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Cervantes was let out of the Will County Jail on Sunday afternoon after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bail, jail logs reflect.
