Joliet Man Rolls Around Yard In Underwear, Fights Police: JPD

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Police officers used Tasers and pepper spray to arrest a 56-year-old Joliet man who was threatening his neighbors and rolling around his yard exposing his genitals, Joliet police reports said. Wednesday's incident occurred shortly before noon at a house in the 1200 block of West Jefferson Street.

George Honiotes, who lives at the house, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, resisting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer. Honiotes also had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Grundy County, police said.

"Officers were able to determine that Honiotes had gotten into a verbal argument and was threatening neighbors," Joliet police reports said. "Honiotes was also rolling around in his underwear, which did not fully cover his genitalia."

When officers arrived at his house, Honiotes became agitated and upset, reports said. He refused to identify himself, and then he tried to leave the property while officers were still trying to conduct their investigation, reports state.

When Honiotes learned he was being placed under arrest, he tried to fight the officers, police said. Honiotes pushed one officer, and then he got into a struggle with several others, according to police reports.

"During the struggle, Honiotes was actively fighting with officers and resisting arrest," Joliet police said. Officers used pepper spray and tasers to subdue the 56-year-old Joliet man, reports indicate.

Joliet police delivered Honiotes to the Will County Jail shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday. He remained in jail Thursday unable to post 10 percent of his $26,000 bail, logs show.
