Convicted Sex Offender Molests Joliet Boy: Police

This sexual predator committed his crimes in Iowa before moving to Joliet, documents show.

JOLIET, IL - A 36-year-old Joliet man who is listed on the state of Illinois registry as being a sexual predator for assaulting a 10-year-old victim in Iowa is now facing new felony charges of predatory criminal sexual assault after Joliet Police arrested him over the weekend. According to police, Quinton L. Jenkins molested an 11-year-old boy.

Joliet Police detectives were alerted to the crime around 6:30 p.m. Saturday; the victim had been taken to the Presence St. Joseph's Medical Center, police reports show.

The victim's mother told Joliet Police detectives "that her son told her he was molested by Jenkins in an unknown residence on the East Side," police said. "The mother of the victim stated that she knew Jenkins through her boyfriend, and Jenkins was supposed to have taken her son to a children’s birthday party that day."

It turns out that Jenkins did not take the child to the birthday party, reports indicate. Later, the mother "received a call from her son telling her that Jenkins assaulted him. An investigation into the accusation was immediately started. After the investigation into the incident, Jenkins, who lives in the 300 block of Morris Street, was located and arrested on the above offense," reports show.

Jenkins remained in the Will County lockup on Monday night. He also spent time in the Will County Jail in 2015 and 2016, logs show.

In 2016, Will County court records show, Jenkins pleaded guilty to the offense of failing to register as a sex offender, a Class 2 felony, as well as the crime of theft. He also has priors in Will County for criminal trespassing, court records reflect.

The Illinois registry states that Jenkins was convicted of two counts of criminal assault by force several years ago in Iowa.

Jenkins committed his Iowa crimes when he was 20 and his victim was 10, the registry notes.
