Convicted Thief Forbidden From Visiting Collins Street Business
Ortiz remains in the Will County Jail, where he faces two new felony charges.

JOLIET, IL - A 26-year-old Joliet man who lives in the Forest Park area now finds himself staying in the Will County Jail after being busted for burglary at a jewelry business on Collins Street, according to court documents. Raul Ortiz, 100 block of Gregory Avenue, was taken into custody by Joliet Police around 3 a.m. on Nov. 23.
He was charged with burglary and unlawful use of a weapon. His criminal complaint states that Ortiz entered the Joliet Jewelry Store at 568 Collins St. "with the intent to commit theft." His other charge states Ortiz "knowingly possessed on or about his person ammunition" even though Ortiz was previously convicted of a felony, that being retail theft in Will County, earlier this year.
Court documents indicate Ortiz went before a Will County judge and his bail has been set at $40,000.

So far, he remains in detention at Will County, unable to come up with $4,000 cash. If he manages to post bond, the judge has forbidden Ortiz from visiting the Joliet Jewelry Store.
