Cop On A Rooftop Now Called Coffee For Champions
More than 300 Dunkin' locations in Illinois will help Joliet's Police Department and other agencies raise money for Special Olympics.

JOLIET, IL — More than 300 Dunkin' restaurants in Illinois will be participating in Friday morning's "Coffee for Champions," the event formerly called "Cop on a Rooftop."
The Joliet Police Department notified Patch that it will be participating in Friday's event which goes from 5 a.m. to noon. Proceeds raised from the event will help Special Olympics Illinois.
JPD officers will be at the Dunkin' located at 2959 West Jefferson St. That will be the only store that JPD will be at, however, there are other local law-enforcement agencies that will be at the other Dunkin' stores in Joliet, according to Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English.

According to event organizers, everybody who makes a donation to the Law Enforcement Torch Run will get a coupon for a free doughnut. People who donate $10 or more will get a Law Enforcement Torch Run travel mug and a coupon for a free medium hot coffee.
The event did not take place in 2020 because of the pandemic.

In 2019, the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run raised $5.3 million. Special Olympics Illinois is a not-for-profit organization that provides year-round training and competition in 18 sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
At the moment, more than 23,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 13,000 children young athletes ages 2 through 7 participate in Special Olympics Illinois programs.
