CREST HILL, IL — A Crest Hill neighbor's swift actions may have saved several lives early Saturday morning in the 1900 block of Cora Street. Two adults and two children were able to flee their burning house shortly before 2:20 a.m. after a neighbor began pounding on their front door alerting them that their house was on fire.

"All were able to safely evacuate the home prior to the fire departments arrival. The Red Cross was called in to assist the family with their needs," Lockport Township Deputy Fire Chief Frank Blaskey said.

Upon arrival, Lockport Township firefighters found heavy flames coming from the rear of the house.
