Loving, Passionate and Dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Sister

Corine Jenkins

Affectionately known as “Lil Sis” was born in Taylor Water Valley, Mississippi on June 9th, 1937 to Marshall Jones and Bessie Jones, the second oldest of 10 children.

Corine accepted Christ at an early age. Corine was united in holy matrimony to Reese Jenkins Jr. They moved and settle in Chicago IL where they affectionately raised 4 children. Sharon (Ann), Eugene & Maurice (who both preceded her in death), and Shirlean. They moved to Bolingbrook IL where they enjoyed their retirement years.

Corine was employed at Cord Specialist where she assisted in creating and manufacturing electrical & electronic components. She retired in 2002.

Corine enjoyed gathering with family and friends, going to the flea market on the weekends, playing cards or just sitting in the park lot for hours on a hot summer day talking and reminiscing. One of her passions was going to the local casino to gamble and challenge her odds with the one-armed bandage. One bucket list she hoped to experience was visiting Las Vegas with hopes of hitting it big. That dream come true in April 27th, 2011. Corine was a loving, passionate and dedicated grandmother where she maintain her family by kinship caring for some of her grandchildren. This selfless act of caring help mold her grandchildren to the adults they are today.

Corine “Lil Sis” was called home to eternal glory on February 22, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Reese Jenkins Jr., her 2 children Eugene and Maurice, 1 sister Lulabell Jones and 1 brother Marshall Jones Jr.

Corine leaves to cherish her memories 2 daughters; Sharon (Ann) Tipler & Shirlean Thicklin (Christopher). 9 grandchildren; Toshia, Tiffany, Maurice, Keyosha, Shawon, Marissa, Christopher Jr., Brandon, Dominique & Romeo . 33 great grandchildren. 6 sister; Florine Jenkins, Lillie Rivers (Charlie), Bessie Manyafield, Ollie Broughton, Elizabeth Nichols (Robert), & Shirley Pitts. 2 brothers; Robert Sr Cooper. and Bobby Jones. And a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Corine “Lil Sis” will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Corine family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to all those in her life.

Memorial services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Saturday, March 15th at 2:00 P.M. Inurnment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until time of services.
