Crash At Jefferson, Larkin Lands Motorist In Jail: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — A 56-year-old Joliet man from South Hammes Avenue has been released from the Will County Jail following a weekend crash at the city's busiest intersection. Joliet police say Mark Bausano was hauled off in handcuffs and booked into the jail on charges of aggravated DUI, DUI, and DUI –BAC Over .08.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the incident happened around 5:10 p.m. Saturday.

  • Officers responded to the area of West Jefferson Street and Larkin Avenue for a traffic crash. A preliminary investigation determined that a Ford Escape driven by Bausano was westbound West Jefferson Street from Larkin Avenue in the inside lane at which time he collided into the rear of a Dodge Journey driven by a 40-year-old man from Joliet.
  • This collision caused the Dodge to collide into the rear of a Nissan Rogue driven by a 28-year-old woman from Joliet. No injuries were reported from the crash.
  • While speaking with officers, Bausano exhibited behaviors consistent with possible alcohol impairment.
  • After Bausano completed his field sobriety tests, he was placed into custody without incident. Bausano was also cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Since his arrest, Bausano has regained his freedom, posting the necessary 10 percent of his $10,000 bail, logs show.
