One person who was shot late Monday morning near an apartment complex on Pioneer Road in Crest Hill has died, Crest Hill's Chief of Police Ed Clark told Joliet Patch around 4 p.m. The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, was shot multiple times inside of a car.

Clark said the crime scene has been secured and others remain busy canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and leads. "It's a very active investigation," Clark emphasized.
The man who got shot was taken to St. Joe's hospital where he was pronounced dead. So far, nobody has been arrested in connection with the homicide, but Chief Clark stressed that several police officers from his agency as well as members of the Will County-Grundy County Major Crimes Task Force are working together in hopes of locating the culprit.
Clark said that police did not have a suspect description as of 4 p.m.
He said it was not clear whether the killer got away by running off or whether the shooter left the area in a getaway vehicle.
He encouraged anybody who may have information about the slaying to call the Crest Hill Police Department at either 815-741-5111 or 815-741-5115.
"We've got a bunch of resources on this," Clark said.
