Cuddy's Robbed, Joliet Police Arrest 16-Year-Old Boy

Wednesday's crime happened at the Cuddy's convenience store at 308 Western Avenue, Joliet police announced.

JOLIET, IL — Wednesday's supper time robbery at the Cuddy's convenience store at 308 Western Avenue resulted in the Joliet Police Department's arrest of a 16-year-old boy on aggravated robbery charges.

Police spokesman Dwayne English issued a Wednesday night news release to spread the word about the juvenile's capture.

The robbery happened around 5:45 p.m.

English said the juvenile entered the store and attempted to buy four vape cartridges. When the cashier asked him for payment, the juvenile grew angry and implied he was armed with a knife.

"The juvenile grabbed the merchandise and fled the store. A description of the juvenile was broadcast to other officers checking the area," English announced.

Joliet's patrol officers spotted the boy near Plainfield Road and Douglas Street. Although he tried to run away, officers caught up to the juvenile in the 600 block of Mason Avenue and placed him into custody without incident, English said.

The boy was brought to the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center on McDonough Street.
