Diane R. Uden
Of Shorewood, IL, aged 65, was called home to her Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2024. A beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be dearly missed.
Diane was born on May 29, 1958, in Decatur, Illinois. She developed a life-long appreciation for the outdoors, family, and faith early in life. She graduated from Valparaiso University and moved to Joliet, Illinois, working briefly in banking until she met Loren Uden. They were happily married from September 22, 1984, until his death in 2008. She devoted much of her life to homemaking and raising their children.
Diane’s service to others continued beyond the home, as an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church’s Sunday School program, Braille ministry, and Handbell choir. She was also engaged in service to her community through Holly Club, PEO, Band Boosters, and Girl Scouts. Later in life she worked as an Administrative Assistant at First Presbyterian Church in Joliet, Illinois. Throughout her life, Diane enjoyed traveling the world with both family and friends, gardening, birding, and spending time in God’s Creation.

She shared these interests with her three children, Julie (Jonathan) Rusnak, Mark (Emili) Uden, and Amy (David) Lakeman, and with her grandchildren Luke, Evangeline, James, and Lily Rusnak; Benjamin, Leah, and Naomi Uden; and Elizabeth, Peter, and expected baby Lakeman. She is also survived by her siblings Linda Ladage, David (Alice) Rolf, and Susan Williams, as well as her siblings-in-law, nephews, and nieces. Along with her husband, Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Rolf and Joan (Duane) Avis, and her brothers-in-law.
Her faith in Christ, given in Baptism, sustained Diane throughout her life. Her strength of character and joyful recognition of God’s many blessings provided an example for many. She found comfort in Christ’s victory over death and the promise of the Resurrection.

Lying in state at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Rd., Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 10:00 A.M. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II. Memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Friday, May 3rd from 4:00 P.M until 7 P.M.
