The Dirksen Junior High School Student Council is sponsoring a Book and Toy Drive for MorningStar Mission. New or gently used books and toys may be dropped off at Dirksen Junior High School, 421 S. Midland Avenue in Joliet until December 18, 2020. In addition, the school will accept additional donations from January 11-19, 2021. Donations will be accepted at the school on Mondays through Thursdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The Dirksen Student Council received the Illinois Association of Junior High Student Council (IAJHSC) Honor Council Award in 2018 and 2019. Schools earn this award for being active and participating in many IAJHSC events and activities. The student council is sponsored by Dirksen teachers Belinda Bair and Johnathan Forkal.
