District 86 Cancels School For Friday, Pandemic Cited

Joliet Public School District 86 made the announcement Thursday, informing parents that school will resume on Tuesday.

JOLIET, IL — Administrators with Joliet Public Schools District 86 announced that all school buildings will be closed Friday and there will be no remote learning, either.

"Schools will reopen on Tuesday, January 18," District 86 announced. "Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to navigate this pandemic."

According to District 86, school is being canceled "in response to staff shortages."

This will be a non-attendance day for students and staff and the school day will be made up on May 31 using one of the five emergency days included in the school calendar.
