Dolores 'Dee' Valek

Devoted wife and avid golfer, gardener, and bowler.

Dolores ‘Dee’ Valek (nee Baudino)

Entered eternal life on February 22, 2025 at the age of 88.

Dolores was born in Joliet, IL on July 11, 1936, to the late Anthony Sr. and Helen Baudino (nee Andros). She was a 1954 graduate of Joliet Township High School. She was employed at the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in Lemont, IL, and later secretary to the Building Commissioner of Broadview, IL.

In 1959, she married Anthony ‘Tony’ Valek and moved to Broadview, IL until 1989, when they retired to Naples, FL. She was very active in volunteering her services to many organizations and charities wherever needed in Broadview, especially the American Red Cross Blood Program.

She loved golfing, bowling, and gardening. She finally got her ‘Hole In One’ when she was a member of Lakewood Country Club in Naples, Florida.

Dolores was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxillary, Unit 135, both in Naples.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tony Valek, brother Donald R. (Judy) Baudino of Wilmington, niece Ann (Michael) Olszta of Minooka, nephew Nicholas Baudino of Wilmington, and great-nephews Anthony and Alexander Baudino of Diamond and Nicholas and Lucas Olszta of Minooka. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Florida and Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Sr. and Helen Baudino, and brother Anthony Baudino Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Carlson Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Joliet, on Wednesday March 12, 2025 from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Funeral Service to be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. with a funeral procession to Resurrection Cemetery to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society, in Dolores’ name, would be greatly appreciated.
