Emergency Sewer Repairs Will Close Traffic Lanes In Downtown Joliet

JOLIET, IL — The city of Joliet issued the following press release on Thurdsay:

As part of the City of Joliet’s emergency sanitary sewer repairs, W. Jefferson Street, between N. Hickory Street and the Des Plaines River Bridge, will be reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Thursday, March 26 through Friday, April 3.

After work hours, between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m., W. Jefferson Street, between N. Hickory Street and the Des Plaines River Bridge, will be reduced to two lanes. When visiting Bicentennial Park during this construction period, use caution and do not enter the fenced / coned off construction area.

The southern entrance to Bicentennial Park will remain open after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.

The work is expected to be completed, and all lanes will be reopened by 5:00 pm on Friday, April 3. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternative routes for the duration of the work.
