Drunken Driver, 51, Crashes, Flips Car On Nicholson: Police

Joliet police say John Ochota was driving southbound on Nicholson Street when he lost control of his car and struck two parked vehicles.

JOLIET, IL — A 51-year-old man from Matteson is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say he was under the influence when he crashed into two parked cars Sunday night along Nicholson Street, causing his car to overturn.

John Ochota managed to get out of his damaged vehicle, and Joliet police arrested him on charges of aggravated DUI, DUI, driving while license revoked and illegal transportation of alcohol. The crash happened around 9:55 p.m. in the 200 block of Nicholson.

"Officers determined that Ochota was driving a vehicle southbound on Nicholson Street, at which time he lost control of his vehicle and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles, causing his vehicle to overturn.," Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English said.

According to police, "Ochota exhibited behaviors of alcohol impairment and an open container of alcohol was located inside of his vehicle."
